some introspection

my mind works all at once. I fail at telling stories in any sort of sequence- usually when i tell a story or try to explain something, i relive it. feelings, images, thoughts, people, all flit randomly into my mind and i speak these things as they come into my consciousness- that's how i storytell; it's as though my mind has no organization. or organizes by some other method that I am unaware of and as a result find it difficult to communicate with any relate-able sense. My sentences are like a Joycean novel- stream of conscious, filled with sounds and emotions and people and places that really only make up parts of the whole picture. When i grasp something, a new concept, i grasp it wholly- i see it in the whole, not in parts. i tend to communicate the same way. and do art the same. live life the same. when i need to make a decision i see the wholeness of the decision. it is hard to decide because i see every possible avenue and outcome of every possible decision at once and from that distance they often all look like the same choice.

this is why i so desperately need art, in every sense- jewelry, photos, sculptures, drawings, models... they take the place of words that make no sense- they tell the story in chronological order- they provide me with a means to show the whole of what is in my mind all at once- something words fail me at quite often. if you really want to know me clearly, i would avoid talking to me at all. just look at my art. it's much clearer than my words will ever be.

isn't that what art is to every artist?
